Self Image- Be Positive

Normally, when I look at myself without my specs, I feel incomplete and awkward. My face feels too light and my nose begins to itch. I'm so accustomed to the blurry faded black box just outside my peripheral, that I forget that I wasn't always this way. But today, I woke and could find no faults across the span of my skin. The sun hadn't decided to rise but I was perfectly content and at ease with my face, skin, and body. Its a good way to end the year, I do believe.

A Tale of Two Time Zones: Christmas Edition

The morning arose, and we crawled from our beds

Though I was 3 hours earlier, as the plan had said,

Ready with tea, to share in this tradition that Christmas bred.

But alas, I would find that the timelines didnt intertwine,

They had forgotten our arrangement and I was far behind.

To sleep they suggested, that I happily return

And to to hell I offered them, where all time can burn

Tis the season

To avoid the songs that drift by

No tree to trim, dress or sit beside

Dodging good cheer and holiday spirit careening after me

Curled around a book and cup of tea

And I sit here hiding from the joy

Dreaming of a bright eyed boy

Popping plastic, my favorite toy

The Quote Board

So, I started posting quotes on my white board, mainly because I have a deep love of them. But also, with my new roommate, I wanted to give him daily words of inspiration and support while he job hunts and gets use to life on the West Coast.

Here are some of my favorites:

Birthdays

The day before was my beginning, the reminder of the start,

I slept and when I rose, the truth poured calmly from my heart.

As the day went on, working from my bed

Inquires fluttered in about possible festivities ahead

"Nay", said I, from the comfort of the room, basking in the computer's glow

"Why?" they proclaimed, curiosity pouring from their souls

"This day" said I, in my sweat pants and tee,

"Is about what I want to do, and that is nothing."

Exercise

Too much energy to dispell my usual ways

I ponder back to my more active days

I miss the sweat, chalk and grunts

Fighting against a heart that refuses the brunt

And now at a desk, where I sit idly by

I know that I must stand and move again

To create a message to my body, for my brain to send

It's time to find it, that sweet exilerated relief

To drain myself so that I can finally sleep.
